About the author - Zane Kamat

Zane has been a photographer, commercial boat captain and tour guide on Sydney Harbour since 2008, where he combines his deep local knowledge with a passion for Australia’s native wildlife and marine ecosystems.

Before returning home, Zane worked as a diver and yacht crew across Europe, the Americas and Southeast Asia, where his love of nature photography first took root while hosting documentary crews. This experience led to an eight- year career working as a camera professional in the feature film and advertising industry.

Today, Zane channels that same storytelling energy into his tours, capturing and sharing the beauty of Sydney Harbour’s natural world. Whether discussing history, chasing whales or hiking national parks with his daughters, he’s committed to conservation and inspiring others to connect with the incredible biodiversity of Australia.
